National Children's Advocacy Center - Employee Satisfaction Survey 2014

Description: This resource is a clear example of a tool to evaluate staff satisfaction, well-being and 'burnout'. Employee satisfaction is measured across a number of areas including feeling supported, valued, and accomplished. Employees are further asked to write in several answers, providing employers and managers with greater insight.

What's the evidence base for this resource: This tool does not appear to be based on any specific evidence. No evidence is provided regarding its effectiveness at guiding organisational actions.

Potential uses and limitations: This tool could be adapted by managers and employers to measure staff satisfaction, opinions, and maintain an idea of levels of burnout or emotional well-being across the organisation. This may be particularly helpful in organisations where staff do not yet feel comfortable, or have not yet started openly communicating about feeling the effects of vicarious trauma and burnout. Though the tool does not measure vicarious trauma directly, its questions correspond with several factors as measured by the VT-ORG.

This tool is an example of one organisation's employee satisfaction scale. It is not a standardised psychological tool.

Where it comes from: This is a survey used by the National Children's Advocacy Center in the US, and is hosted on the Office for Victims of Crime's website for the Vicarious Trauma Toolkit.
