How to use this site

These short videos cover the basic aspects of the website.

Video 1 is a broad overview:

Video 2 shows in more detail how to find resources that relate to specific items from the VT-ORG survey:

The two key components of the Toolkit are the VT-ORG, and the Resource Library.

The Vicarious Trauma Organisational Readiness Guide (VT-ORG) is a validated organisational assessment tool developed by an academic research team based at Northeastern University (Boston). Through a series of survey questions, the VT-ORG is designed to identify 5 key areas (or 'pillars') of a vicarious trauma informed organisation: Leadership and Mission, Management and Supervision, Employee Empowerment and Work Environment, Training and Professional Development, and Staff Health and Wellness.

The VT-ORG should be completed by as many staff as possible within the organisation, to help assess capacity to address employees' work-related exposure to trauma and prioritise organisational needs, and to assist in navigating the VTPAT site and the Resource Library.

The Resource Library is a vetted collection of resources that should assist organisations to develop their own action plans. It includes a range of resource types, including policy documents, evidence reviews, program descriptions, and video presentations. The project team reviews each resource, and provides a brief summary, including the evidence base for the resource, possible uses and limitations. Each resource in the library is linked to the relevant areas of the VT-ORG, and can be filtered accordingly.

Ideally, once your organisation is ready (see the Blueprint section), the results of the VT-ORG will guide you to find the relevant resources in the library. You can also freely browse and search within the library.
